Premier League Game-Week 5 Predictions

Premier League football is back! Premier League football returns after international break.

Yes the international break is done with and club football returns once again this weekend and from Saturday lunch-time to Monday evening, the Premier League is packed with action.

Seven games on Saturday, two on Sunday and then the last one on Monday evening, and as it’s Wednesday, it’s time for Alex Batt to make some predictions alongside a SillySeason writer.

Today he is joined by Ben Kelly and the duo will hope to get as many scorelines as right as possible.

So without further ado, lets get into the games and the predictions.

Saturday’s Matches Predictions

Everton vs Chelsea Predictions

Alex Says: What a very tough game to predict. Everton have started okay so far this season whilst Chelsea have looked unrecognisable from last season. I wouldn’t be surprised with any result to be honest, but as a prediction, I’ll go draw. Match Prediction: 1-1

Ben Says: Everton, despite often being slow starters, have had a stable beginning to this campaign, while everyone can see that Chelsea have struggled and haven’t got the results everybody expected them to. A trip to Goodison Park is always difficult, however, after the international break the players will have come back raring to go out and prove a point and that begins on Saturday, for that reason, I fancy Chelsea to steal a win here.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Chelsea

Everton vs Chelsea FC

Arsenal vs Stoke City Predictions

Alex Says: Arsenal need goals and a win at the Emirates Stadium and I think Saturday will be the time they get that. Usually solid at home against Stoke City and I’ll be surprised if it’s anything but a home win.

Match Prediction: 3-1

Ben Says: Arsenal haven’t yet truly established themselves as front runners this season quite yet, having had a rather underwhelming start to the season after a tough defeat at home to West Ham on the first day. They’re still to pick up a point at home, but Stoke are yet to win at all. Arsenal will be raring to go and get their season back on track, therefore I predict a comfortable win for the Gunners.

Match prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Stoke

Crystal Palace vs Manchester City Predictions

Alex Says: Blimey, another tough one. Palace at home are so tough to play against and beat, but I think I’ll have to back Manchester City just for the start they’ve had. They look untouchable.

Match Prediction: 1-2

Ben Says: Palace have started very well themselves, with the highlight of the season so far coming at Stamford Bridge nearly two weeks ago, they have also beaten Villa and Norwich so far. It’s hard to back against them with the start they’ve had, but they’re up against high-flying Man City, the team no one wants to face at the moment, and I fancy City to burst the Palace bubble, with their power and pace up front with players such as Aguero and Sterling proving to be too much for Alan Pardew’s side.

Match prediction: Palace 1-3 City

Norwich City vs Bournemouth Predictions

Alex Says: Battle of the promoted boys. If you want to survive in the Premier League, these are the games you must win and I think Norwich will do that on Saturday. However, only just though.

Match Prediction: 1-0

Ben Says: Two new promoted teams trying to find their feet in the league, neither team will want to take too many risks, so it’s likely to be a slow moving game. Norwich will be looking to bounce back from a 3-0 hammering away at Southampton, while Bournemouth will be looking for their second win of the season. I think this is set to be a stalemate, due to the desperation for points that might come in April/May time not being there quite just yet.

Match prediction: Norwich 0-0 Bournemouth

Watford vs Swansea Predictions

Alex Says: Another really hard game to call. The draw specialists in Watford and a very good Swansea side. Would usually play safe and go draw, but I reckon Garry Monk‘s men could pick up another three points here. Match Prediction: 0-2

Ben Says: Garry Monk’s side have had a very impressive start to the season, playing good football and getting good results. They’re still yet to lose, while Watford are still yet to win a game back in the Premier League. This is Swansea’s game to win, and I think they’ll take it comfortably.

Match prediction: Watford 0-2 Swansea

West Brom vs Southampton Predictions

Alex Says: Both teams have been less than impressive so far, but I think Saints will get another win here after their 3-0 victory over Norwich City. Will be a tight game with just one goal in it.

Match Prediction: 0-1

Ben Says: West Brom and Southampton have both started a little uneasy, but I think West Brom have signed a real quality player in Saloman Rondon, and he will improve with every game. Graziano Pelle is yet to hit his full capacity this season, and a break from football for most of these players will have done them a lot of good. I fancy West Brom to sneak this one and get their first home win of the season.

Match prediction: West Brom 1-0 Southampton

Manchester United vs Liverpool Predictions

Alex Says: The Big One of the weekend. United/Liverpool games are always exciting and I’m sure this one will live up to the hype as well. As for result, I can’t see past a home win to be honest. Will be a thriller though.

Match Prediction: United 3-2 Liverpool

Ben Says: Up until the last game, both of these teams had been enjoying pretty decent starts to their campaign. United beating Spurs at home on the opening day and Liverpool managing to get a draw away at Arsenal three games in, but the previous games for these two were massively disappointing. United will take the points here due to one simple reason – no Philippe Coutinho for Liverpool. He is the heart of the team now and the visitors will miss his creativity dearly, it won’t be easy for United, but they’ll get there in the end.

Match prediction: United 1-0 Liverpool

Sunday’s Matches Predictions

Sunderland vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

Alex Says: Anyone who doesn’t beat Sunderland at this rate should be questioned. Spurs haven’t started well but they simply have to win here. No offence to The Black Cats but they just never learn.

Match Prediction: 0-2

Ben Says: Sunderland are having a terrible time of it at the moment and even though Spurs aren’t flying super high, this will be a standard win for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, leaving Sunderland still rooted firmly to the bottom of the Premier League table after another week.

Match Prediction: Sunderland 0-3 Spurs

Leicester City vs Aston Villa Predictions

Alex Says: Going to have to go with a home win here. Leicester have been the surprise package so far this season and I back them to beat their local rivals on Sunday.

Match Prediction: 3-1

Ben Says: Leicester are playing some really good football, and haven’t lost yet, Jamie Vardy has been the star man, with the forward earning himself an England call-up for his performances. It almost guarantees Claudio Ranieri’s side will continue their solid start to the season with a comfortable win over Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa, who haven’t won since the opening day. Match prediction: Leicester 3-1 Villa

Monday’s Match Predictions

West Ham United vs Newcastle United Predictions

Alex Says: Two of the strangest football clubs. One week they’ll be awesome, the next they’ll be awful. Because of that, this game is so hard to predict, but I will have to say draw. West Ham seemingly cannot play at home and Newcastle looked solid away against Manchester UnitedMatch Prediction: 1-1

Ben Says: Newcastle are falling fast, while West Ham will be buzzing from their win away at Liverpool before the break. However, Steve McClaren is always good at getting his tactics sorted out and West Ham are only picking up the good performances away from home. I think it will continue in that vein for Hammers and this will finish a draw.

Match prediction: West Ham 1-1 Newcastle

So there you have it. Our predictions for this weekend.
