SillySeason predict this weekend’s results

It’s Wednesday, so that can only mean one thing, SillySeason’s predictions for this weekend’s Premier League games.

Yes it’s time for another prediction article and this week sees Alex Batt take on Luke Adam as they try and predict all ten matches ahead of game-week 14 in the Premier League.

Six games on Saturday, four games on Sunday.

Lets get straight into the predictions.

Saturday’s Games

Aston Villa vs Watford

Alex Says: Big game this for both teams as I think both may deem it a winnable game. Remi Garde is still looking for his first win as Villa boss and I believe he’ll get it here. Watford unlucky not to get something from Manchester United last weekend, and I reckon they’ll go empty handed here too. Match Prediction: 2-1

Luke Says: This season has been a disaster so far for the Villains and they will need maximum points off Watford on Saturday to ease the pressure and start their climb to safety, however Watford will also want points to climb up the table. Match Prediction: 2-2

Bournemouth vs Everton

Alex Says: Bournemouth got a solid result away at Swansea City last weekend, while Everton thumped Aston Villa at Goodison Park. I can see Roberto Martinez’s men winning again here as Eddie Howe’s men continue to struggle. Match Prediction: 0-2

Luke Says: Bournemouth have found life difficult in the Premier League this far and sit in the relegation zone. In stark contrast, the Toffee’s sit seventh and will be hoping to mount a top 4 challenge this year. They are firm favourites to grab maximum points here. Match Prediction: 1-3

Crystal Palace vs Newcastle United

Alex Says: Alan Pardew against his old employers. Boy he will want to win this game, especially after Monday’s shock loss to Sunderland. I can see the Eagles bouncing back and piling more misery on Newcastle. Match Prediction: 3-1

Luke Says: Newcastle’s Premier League struggles continue as they look to overcome a solid Palace side. Palace have a fantastic home record and will be expecting to snatch all three points against a disjointed Newcastle side who could find themselves fighting relegation come May. Match Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City vs Southampton

Alex Says: Both teams were shocked last weekend. City were thrashed by Liverpool and Southampton lost at home to Stoke City. However, I think City will be the team to bounce back here and edge this one. Match Prediction: 2-1

Luke Says: Manchester City have had a very indifferent seasons once again. One game they look like world beaters, in others they fall apart and find themselves on the receiving end of a spanking. Southampton on the other hand have developed into one of the leagues most consistent teams and will certainly make it a difficult afternoon for the sky blues. Match Prediction: 2-1

Sunderland vs Stoke City

Alex Says: Both teams picked up impressive wins in the last game-week with Sunderland beating Palace and Stoke beating Southampton. This one is tough to call so I may sit on the fence and say a point apiece. Match Prediction: 1-1

Luke Says: Sunderland will be looking to leap frog over their North East rivals Newcastle with a victory against Stoke on Saturday. Stoke will be favourites for this match as they are an extremely difficult team to overcome. With Sunderland scrapping for points, a draw wouldn’t be a bad outcome. Match Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City vs Manchester United

Alex Says: Who had this down as a top-of-the-table battle after 13 games?! What a game this could be and I can honestly see Leicester City coming away with yet another win here. Will be tight, but I can see them doing it. Will Jamie Vardy beat Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s record?? Match Prediction: 2-1

Luke Says: Leicester have been on fire this season thanks to the sublime efforts of Jamie Vardy. After being released by Sheffield Wednesday at the age of 16- The Englishman has gone on to become the leagues most prolific goal scorer- Having equalled Van Nistelrooy’s goal scoring streak. Can he make it 12 from 12 against Manchester United? Match Prediction: 2-1 (Vardy to score)

Sunday’s Games

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea

Alex Says: Easily the game of the weekend. Spurs are on fire right now and Chelsea have picked up back-to-back wins this week in two competitions. However, it’s still not the same Chelsea side as last season and I think they’ll lose again here. Match Prediction: 3-2

Luke Says: This is a massive London derby for both teams. This fixture has the potential to decide who makes top 4 come May. Should Spurs snatch the points- They will be clear favourites to knock Chelsea out the Champions League spots. Should Chelsea win however, It will be exactly what the doctor ordered and could signal the end of the dreadful run of form that has seen the Blues plummet from 1st to 15th. When it matters- Jose Mourinho usually gets it right and we all remember what happened the last time Spurs ran out favourites. The Blues won 2-0. Match Prediction: 1-2

West Ham United vs West Bromwich Albion

Alex Says: West Ham were battered by Spurs last week while West Brom stunned Arsenal, so this could be an interesting game. Dimitri Payet is a huge loss for Slaven Bilic’s men and I can see their form being effected because of it. Draw here. Match Prediction: 2-2

Luke Says: West Ham will be firm favourites for this match. The Hammers have been in sublime form this season- Picking up maximum points against the Leagues big boys. They should dispense of an indifferent West Brom side. Match Predicition: 2-0

Liverpool vs Swansea City

Alex Says: Liverpool will be buzzing after their win at the Etihad Stadium, while Swansea will be in a deflated mood considering their recent run of form. Garry Monk’s job is on the line and I can only see it getting further damaged here with another defeat. Match Prediction: 3-1

Luke Says: Liverpool absolutely hammered Manchester City last weekend which will have raised eyebrows across the footballing world. Is the Klopp effect in full swing or will Liverpool slip at the next hurdle as they so often do? Swansea on their day can beat anyone and they will certainly provide a test for the Reds. Match Prediction: 1-0

Norwich City vs Arsenal

Alex Says: How big of a loss is Francis Coquelin for Arsenal?! Every game without him could be a struggle now for Arsene Wenger’s men so it could be a tough period for them. However, I can see them still having enough going forward to see off Norwich City here. Match Prediction: 0-2

Luke Says: Norwich shouldn’t have to much to worry Arsenal this weekend as the Gunners look to take advantage of City’s indifference. Arsenal will have to win these sort of games to win the league- In the past they have stumbled when they should have leaped. This has been such an unpredictable season so you wouldn’t put your house on a Reds win here. Match Prediction: 1-3
