Monaco midfielder Fabinho has made it clear that he wants to leave the French Ligue one club in the summer.

Europe’s top clubs will be on alert as one of Monaco’s best players has made it clear that he wants to leave.

Monaco midfielder Fabinho say’s his days at the club are numbered and the Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal target has made it clear he is ready for ‘a new challenge’.

Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev told Sky Sports News in October that they will consider selling Fabinho next summer after “strong” interest from Manchester United and Manchester City last summer.

Fabinho has spent four years at the club and is keen on a new challenge.

Monaco are enduring a rather disappointing campaign this season after letting go several key players last summer. They have been knocked out of the Champions League in the group stage and are currently fourth in the Ligue One table and 12 points behind league leaders PSG.  This is in stark contrast to last season when they got to the semi-finals of the Champions league and won the French Ligue One.

Fabinho told Lancenet: “If a move to a new league or a club with a bigger structure and bigger expectations [is possible], I would be interested.

“My time with Monaco was good, but I feel my time here is coming to an end.

“I know that the club’s vision is to try to finish second and qualify for the Champions League, without counting on big-name players, but on young players.

“I believe I have gone through this process. I arrived as an unknown, I made my name at the club, won things – but maybe I need a new challenge.”
