Wins for both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur were both in Europa League action last night, and both of them picked up valuable three points.

The two teams both played fairly strong sides despite having big games in the Premier League this weekend, with Liverpool hosting Crystal Palace and Tottenham travelling to Arsenal in the North London Derby.

However, playing strong sides meant both teams picked up important victories.

Liverpool Win in Russia

Liverpool travelled to Russia to face Rubin Kazan in the early kick-off, with the two sides drawing 1-1 at Anfield a few weeks ago.

The Reds went into the game looking for their first European away victory since 2012, and they got that win thanks to a second-half strike from Jordan Ibe.

In truth, it should have been more comfortable for Jurgen Klopp‘s men as they were by far the better team.

The win puts them second in Group B on six points, two behind leaders FC Sion.

Tottenham Leave it Late

After Liverpool’s win, all focus turned to White Hart Lane as Spurs hosted Belgium side Anderlecht.

It took Mauricio Pochettino‘s men 29-minutes to break the deadlock, and it was once again Harry Kane who netted for the hosts, continuing his fine scoring form.

However, with 18-minutes left, Imoh Ezekiel equalised for the visitors, stunning the home crowd.

With three minutes remaining and the game edging to a draw, Mousa Dembele scored his second goal in the space of a few days when he rocketed the ball home to give Spurs all three points.

The 2-1 win puts Tottenham top of their group on seven points.
