Tottenham draw in Monaco, while Sion hold Liverpool at Anfield

After the London duo disappointed in the Champions League on Tuesday, the Premier League were given a timely boost by the Manchester teams on Wednesday, but how did the English sides cope in the Europa League last night?

Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool returned to Europa League action last night, with Spurs traveling to AS Monaco and Liverpool hosting Sion.

Spurs Summary

Spurs went into their game following a 3-1 victory over Qarabag in the opening game-week, while Monaco drew their first game 1-1 with Anderlecht.

The points were shared once again for the Ligue 1 side as they held the Premier League outfit to a 1-1 draw in Monaco.

Erik Lamela gave Spurs the lead, but it was cancelled out by Stephan El Sharaawy in the final 10-minutes of the game.

The draw keeps Spurs top on four points, with Qarabag second on three after they managed to beat Anderlecht last night.

Monaco sit third with two points, and Anderlecht make up the group in fourth on one point.

Liverpool Summary

As for Liverpool, they went into the game after drawing 1-1 away against Bordeaux in the first game-week and it was a similar result last night.

Adam Lallana gave the hosts an early lead, making it two goals in two Europa League games for the England international, but Ebenezer Assifuah leveled the game for Sion just 13-minutes later.

In the other game of the group, Bordeaux drew 0-0 with Rubin Kazan.

The results of game-week two leave Sion top on four points, Liverpool and Bordeaux joint second on two points and Kazan bottom on one point.
