Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all mulling over £36m bids for centre-back Aymeric Laporte

The riches of Premier League giants could force Athletic Bilbao to part with prized centre-back Aymeric Laporte in January, according to reports in Spain.

The Basque-based side successfully kept hold of Laporte in the summer transfer window, having set the defender’s buy-out clause to £36m.

And that fee was enough to starve off interest from Premier League sides, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, with all three sides set to go back in for the Frenchman in the New Year.

Television deal could aid any deal for Laporte

Spanish publication, Mundo Deportivo, claim that Bilbao will be unable to fend off the advances of the English sides, due to the financial revenue gained by Premier League teams over the Television deal.

Recent events in England mean that La Liga are considering changing their stance on the current broadcasting deal.

Barcelona and Real Madrid currently negotiate earnings from televised fixtures, with the rest of the money spread out between the 18 sides.
