Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure is attracting interest from Premier League rivals; Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool, amid speculation that the 31-year-old could be replaced by Everton starlet, Ross Barkley.
Reports emerged this morning that City were showing interest in Barkley as they search for a long-term replacement for Toure, who is nearing the end of his career, and with Barkley linked to a move to the Etihad Stadium, three Premier League giants are now ready to offer Toure a way-out.
The Ivorian midfielder has had a testing few months at City due to his brother passing and the incident with his birthday, and since then, Liverpool, Chelsea and United have all been showing interest in the midfielder.
Further criticism came in the direction of Toure after his poor performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and that has sparked Manuel Pellegrini’s interest in Everton’s, Ross Barkley.
Despite the interest in Barkley and club’s being interested in Toure, the Ivorian has claimed that he still wants to stay at the Etihad.
“I will definitely stay with City.
“There was a lot of speculation about birthday cakes and rubbish like that. It’s quite disappointing for me and for the fans because a little joke has become so serious.
“I was quite surprised about why people reacted about that, how serious they took it.
“I know all the fans love me because the fans have always been good with me and my family. My target now is the Champions League, I want to make it for them.”
