Premier League trio set to miss out on Dutch striker

Schalke striker Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar is ready to commit his future to the Bundesliga club, depsite interest from Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool.

All three Premier League sides are looking for added firepower to bolster their chances of a top four finish this season, however will have to now look elsewhere.

Huntelaar, who had had previous spells with Ajax, Real Madrid and AC Milan, has been with the club since 2010, and Schalke are hoping to extend that time period further.

General manager Horst Heldt said: “I am able to confirm a chat with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

“It was a good conversation. Both parties have signalled a basic interest in a new agreement to carry on together in the future.”
