Premier League victory isn’t our mission, reveals Eto’o

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has echoed the words of manager Jose Mourinho by revealing that winning the Premier League this season isn’t the clubs mission.

The Blues are currently leading the race for the title, ahead of Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool, but despite this, Mourinho has been ruling his side out of the title race completely for months now, and it seems his words have got into Eto’o’s mind as well as others.

The Cameroon international, who joined the club in the Summer, has admitted that their main aim wasn’t to win the league this season, but it was to set something up for the long-term and anything else is a bonus.

‘We have never thought that we can’t win the title, but Jose Mourinho came to Chelsea to do big things for the long run which he is trying to do,’ the 32-year-old said.

‘We players believe that it is possible, but at the same time it is not our mission.

‘Right now we are not thinking about other teams or the end of the season, we are just focused on our next game and that is Galatasaray.’

Chelsea travel to Turkey to take on Didier Drogba’s side on Wednesday night in the last-16 of the Champions League.
