The two teams will meet in Group F

Portugal entertain Iceland in their opening game of Euro 2016 at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, Saint-Etienne; kick-off 8pm (BST).

Portugal’s Euros history

This will be the seventh time that Portugal have appeared in a European Championships, after previously qualifying in 1984, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Their best performance in a Euros came back in 2004. They qualified automatically for the tournament because they were the hosts, and they reached the final only to be beaten 1-0 by Greece – Angelos Charisteas with the only goal of the game.

Iceland’s Euros history

This is first time in the country’s history that their national football team has qualified for a Euros.
