Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are both in action

Liverpool

The Reds play their first home game of the tournament tonight as they host Swiss champions FC Sion at Anfield.

Liverpool drew their opening game at Bordeaux 1-1 after Brendan Rodgers made a host of changes and handed youngsters such as Cameron Brannagan and Pedro Chirivella their senior debuts.

Adam Lallana gave the three times winners the lead in the south of France, but they were pegged back and took a point back to England.

However, they will be looking to be hard to beat away but take all three points in their home games, as this is usually the recipe to progress out of the group stages.

Liverpool will want to start this trend tonight when they welcome Sion, who travel to Merseyside in confident mood. The team from Switzerland are top of Group B after beating Rubin Kazan 2-1 at home on the opening match day.

Tottenham Hotspur

On the other hand, Spurs top Group J after they defeated Azerbaijan champions Qarabag 3-1 at White Hart Lane.

Qarabag took a shock lead through a penalty, but two goals in as many minutes for Tottenham’s new signing Heung-min Son turned the game on it’s head; Erik Lamela secured the three points with a late goal of his own.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men visit France tonight to face AS Monaco, who are third in the group after a 1-1 draw with at Anderlecht on match day one.

Tottenham will be hoping for another victory at the Stade Louis II in order to open up a comprehensive gap at the top of their group.
