Four games, Two Derbies

After a exciting Saturday of Premier League action, it’s now time to focus on the four games on Super Sunday, and for once, it really is a SUPER Sunday.

Two Derbies

The first game gets underway at lunch-time as Sunderland host Newcastle United in the Tyne-Wear Derby.

The Black Cats have the number on their fierce-rivals in recent years, but after the Magpies‘ 6-2 thrashing of Norwich City last weekend, they’ll be full of momentum.

Going into the game, Sunderland are rock bottom of the Premier League on just three points from nine games, while Newcastle are just a couple of places above them in 18th on six points.

The game will be Sam Allardyce‘s first home game in charge of Sunderland, and he’ll be hoping he can get the win over his former-employers.

After the Tyne-Wear Derby, all eyes turn to the Manchester Derby as United host City.

Both teams have had solid starts to the new campaign and both could possibly go top if they win today.

City go into the game second on 21 points, one point behind league-leaders Arsenal, while United sit in fourth on 19 points.

If Louis van Gaal‘s men can win by three goals or more, they will leapfrog the Gunners and will sit top of the tree after 10 games.

Elsewhere

Kicking off at the same time is AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur, with the Cherries looking for their first win in four matches. As for Spurs, they are seventh and have only lost once so far this season.

However, Mauricio Pochettino‘s men have only won three as well, meaning they’ve drawn the other five.

The last game on Super Sunday sees Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp takes charge of his first home Premier League match.

Liverpool go into the game on level points with Saints, and a win for Klopp‘s men could see them rise from 12th to 6th.
