Europa League returns tonight and Spurs host Azerbaijan club

After the Champions League took centre-stage on Tuesday and Wednesday night, it’s now time to turn to the Europa League.

The game we will be previewing here is Tottenham Hotspur against Qarabag as they look to start their European adventure off with all three points.

The duo were drawn in Group J of the competition alongside Belgium side Anderlecht and French club AS Monaco.

For Spurs it’s another season in the Europa League after failing to break into the top-four of the Premier League, whilst Qarabag have become the second Azerbaijan team to qualify for the group stages.

Team News

Tottenham will be without midfielder Ryan Mason, who injured himself whilst scoring against Sunderland at the weekend, and he has joined midfield duo Christian Eriksen and Moussa Dembele on the sidelines.

In more positive news for Spurs, Harry Kane is likely to be fit and should feature tonight as he continues to search for his first club goal of the season.

The breakthrough star from last year has netted twice for England so far in recent matches, but he is yet to get off the mark for Mauricio Pochettino‘s men.

Prediction

Without meaning to be disrespectful to Qarabag, this should be a comfortable evening for The Lilywhites, and they are fully expected to come away with three points.

Anderlecht and Monaco are the trickier matches, so Pochettino will be desperate to start the campaign off with a win.

Match Prediction: 3-0
