Paris Saint-Germain have made an approach for Jose Mourinho to become their new manager in the summer.
The PSG Chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi is said to have started the approach for the Portuguese Manager through his agent Jorge Mendes immediately after their Champions League Cup exit against Manchester City.
This has not come as a surprise, as Laurent Blanc has done little in terms of progressing in a European contest, despite impressive league performances.
It is probably likely that Mourinho will wait until at least the end of the season until he considers the offer, having one eye on any developments at Manchester United, who are said to be extremely interested in the experienced manager.
PSG have tried to appoint the top manager twice before, as he is a friend of Al-Khelafi. It has come as no surprise that Mourinho was the go-to man to replace Laurent Blanc.
Al-Khelafi wasn’t afraid to hide his emotions last week at the Champions League exit, saying that Blanc took a “tactical gamble” Â by playing three men in defence.
Mourinho faced the press on April 9, and stated “I am always linked with jobs and in the summer I will have a job, but in this moment I can promise you I do not have a contract with any club,” – which shows that anything could happen.
PSG’s approach for Mourinho will not go unnoticed, and if Manchester United sacked Van Gaal, then Mourinho would most likely consider that option more favourably, as it means that he remains in England after his sacking at Chelsea.
