PSG Lining Up Mauricio Pochettino As Thomas Tuchel's Replacement After Sack

Paris Saint-Germain have sacked Thomas Tuchel from the managerial post.

News emerged yesterday about the German’s firing and now, Mauricio Pochettino is leading the race to replace him.

Reputed journalist, Fabrizio Romano has already claimed that both parties have found an agreement to appoint the former Tottenham coach. Pochettino has been out of work since being fired by Spurs last year.

PSG’s domestic form has been very shaky this season with Lyon and Lille ahead of them in the Ligue 1 table. Tuchel did manage to see them through to the knockout stages but it was not enough to keep his job.

He was obviously not happy with his sacking as he told Sport1, “We missed winning the Champions League by one match. And we never had the feeling that we had convinced people and that they recognised our performance. Sometimes that makes you a little sad or angry.

“During the first six months I was asking myself ‘am I still a coach…or a minister of Sport?'”

Tuchel leaves PSG with two Ligue 1 titles, a French Cup and a League Cup. Pochettino completely transformed Spurs in his five-and-a-half years with them but failed to win any silverware. He could unlock this PSG side in the European stages.
