French champions launch £28million move for winger
Paris Saint-Germain are set to launch a formal bid for Chelsea target and Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
The French winger has been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with The Blues prepared to sell Oscar and Juan Cuadrado to make room for the Atletico star, but it looks like they will be missing out.
Superb Season/Foreign Interest
The 24-year-old had a stunning campaign in La Liga last year, scoring 22 goals in just 37 appearances, and his consistent performances caught the eye of Jose Mourinho.
However, the Frenchman could be set for a move back home with French champions PSG ready to sign him in a deal worth around £28m.
Avoiding the Release Clause
Griezmann has a release clause in his contract worth £43.5m, but Laurent Blanc is confident he can strike a deal a lot cheaper than that, despite Diego Simeone desperately trying to keep hold of him.
PSG are known for their financial powers, but they won’t want to risk punishment from Financial Fair Play, so they won’t be prepared to meet the release clause of the winger.
