French champions showing interest in midfielder
Paris Saint-Germain are considering a Summer swoop for Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin.
The French holding-midfielder burst onto the scene this season, despite starting the campaign out on loan at Championship side Charlton Athletic.
Arsenal Re-Birth for Coquelin
The 24-year-old was widely expected to leave Arsenal this Summer, once his contract expired, but after the second-half of the season, Coquelin was offered a new long-term deal by Arsene Wenger.
Coquelin was only recalled to Arsenal due to injuries to Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini, and although he was mad at being recalled because of game-time fears, the Frenchman quickly became a vital part in Arsenal’s midfield.
The midfielder impressed so much, he actually came runner-up in the Player of the Season poll, only behind Summer signing Alexis Sanchez.
Impressive Performances
After impressing for Arsenal, French champions PSG are reportedly showing interest in the powerhouse, with Laurent Blanc impressed with his no-nonsense performances.
Coquelin is still concerned about his long-term future and whether he will continue to get game-time at the Emirates Stadium, with Wenger expected to sign a new holding midfielder over the Summer, so a move away could be on the cards for the 24-year-old.
