Man United’s Angel Di Maria has revealed that only money issues at PSG prevented a move to Paris. The winger ended up moving to Old Trafford for a Premier League record £59.7m but things could have worked out differently.
It has been revealed money problems prevented Di Maria from moving to Ligue 1 – PSG were fined £50million and and issued with restrictions on spending after breaching one of UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. It meant that a move for the Argentina international had to be scrapped.
The 26-year old told Telefoot: “PSG, I think they had a money problem and they couldn’t buy players. This is the main reason I didn’t go there.
“Playing in the French league would please a lot of players. Now I’m in the English league. But you never know, there is a lot of movements in football. You can never predict where you’re going to play.”
Despite only just moving to Man United, he hasn’t ruled out playing in Paris in the future, adding: “It could have been a good experience for me to go to Paris.
“I know I’m still young, perhaps I’ll go to PSG one day. I don’t know how it will all end.”
