PSG tempt to scare of potential Verratti suitors with huge fee
Paris Saint-Germain have stuck a £59 million price tag on Italy midfielder Marco Verratti, who is a Chelsea transfer target.
The 23-year-old has made 18 appearances for the Ligue 1 leaders this season, and despite having not scored a goal for the French giants this campaign, they will demand big money to allow their playmaker to leave.
Chelsea are thought to be the biggest threat of trying to lure the Italian away from Ligue 1 and into the Premier League, meaning PSG have upped their demands for the player.
Verratti closes in on new deal
Verratti is, though, set to sign a contract extension with PSG until 2020 which will be his fourth new contract deal at the club, to secure his immediate future in the French capital.
However, his agent, Donato Di Campli, has admitted that the door is open for a potential move in the future, although it may be a bit too late for Chelsea.
PSG see Verratti as a part of their long-term plans, with Chelsea looking to find suitable additions as both Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas continue to struggle for form with the faltering Blues.
Chelsea are also on the lookout for PSG’s Edinson Cavani and Gregory van der Wiel.
