Former Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has been named the new manager of newly promoted Premier League side Crystal Palace, after agreeing terms with Palace chairman Steve Parish, with confirmation coming on Saturday morning.

First team caretaker manager Keith Millan, who had provided some decent results in his time in charge following Holloway’s resignation, took charge of the Eagles for the last time yesterday as Palace won away at fellow newly promoted side Hull City, thanks to Barry Bannan, in a spirited perfoemance.

The Guardian newspaper reported on Saturday morning that a fee had been agreed for Pulis, and the Welshman will be given funds for signings in January, as the Croydon based outfit look to mount a survival challenge.

Pulis 55, enjoyed a succesful spell at Stoke City, which included promotion to the Oremier League in 2008, as the Potters progressed on to be a stable Premier League side.Pulis also took the Staffordshire side to an FA Cup Final in 2011, and took the side into Europe the following season.

Palace chose to explore alternative options, taking soundings from a number of candidates from Martin O’Neill to Chris Coleman, Romanian manager Dan Petrescu to former manager Iain Dowie, but in the end opted for Pulis.

Pulis would have been impressed with his new side’s performance on Saturday, but he know’s the full task that faces him,if he is to keep Palace up when the seson end’s in May.
