QPR set to receive a British record breaking fine

Queens Park Rangers are in danger of being hit with the biggest fine in British footballing history which could in fact top a fine of £60million.

The reasoning for these debts are because of the amount of signings they have made over the past couple of seasons, and due to the long-term contracts they offered their players, they are struggling to off-load some of the high earners.

If QPR are to go up this season back to the Premier league then their fine would then be suspended until January of 2015 by the Football league due to their new FIFA fair play (FFP) rules, which see’s overspending clubs taxed on there losses.

Queens Park Rangers are currently favourites to gain promotion to the top-flight but if they fail to get promoted they will be hit with a lengthy transfer embargo.

At this time the mathematics are very complicated but in broad terms its thought every Championship club will pay a £1 fine for every £1 they lose and QPR lost over £18 million in this 2013/2014 financial year.

Sources close to QPR have stated last year in the 2012/2013 season the club lost between £75 – £80 million pounds.

We shall all have to keep a very close eye on this story as it keeps continuing to grow.

Are there dark times around the corner at Loftus Road?
