Napoli boss Rafael Benitez could go back to his old club Chelsea in hunt for a new defender, with Cesar Azpilicueta topping his wishlist.
The Spaniard was an interim-manager at Stamford Bridge for most of last season and despite being hated by nearly all the fans, he managed to guide The Blues to a Europa League final, in which they won 2-1.
Now in Italy with Napoli, Benitez has sent a message to European football that he will be creating a team to challenge the very best and after signing a couple of Real Madrid’s stars in the Summer, he is now looking at Premier League talent to help improve his newly-formed side.
His attentions have turned back to Stamford Bridge as he is lining-up a potential bid for Spanish right-back Azpilicueta, who has found first-team football hard to come by since Jose Mourinho’s return.
He joined Chelsea for £7million back in 2012, but has only made three appearances so far this season and a promise of first-team football, could be enough to persuade the Spaniard to leave England.
