‘Raheem Sterling is not for sale’, says Ayre

Liverpool chief executive Ian Ayre has confirmed that Raheem Sterling has a long-term future at Anfield despite the transfer talks linking him with a move away.

The England international has already rejected contract extension offers from the club and recently stated in an interview with BBC that he won’t be talking to officials until the end of the season.

It’s believed the winger wants over £100k-a-week to pen a new deal, but he’s insisted that it’s not about the money, it’s about being at the right club and at a club that can regularly compete for silverware.

The 20-year-old has been linked with a shock move to Arsenal, who were keen on signing him earlier in his career, but Ayre has reassured Reds fans that the winger is not for sale and will remain at Liverpool for many years to come.

‘Raheem’s agent has asked that we park all discussions regards his future until the summer,’ Ayre told Sky Sports News.

‘We respect that. Raheem is a Liverpool player and has over two years left on his contract. We expect Raheem Sterling to be here for a long time.’
