Ralph Hasenhuttl is on the verge of becoming the new manager of Southampton after agreeing on terms with the club.

Southampton parted ways with Mark Hughes following the 2-2 draw against Manchester United at St Mary’s. Although Kelvin Davis has been given the temporary charge of the team the Saints hierarchy is now expected to announce Hasenhuttl’s appointment.

The Austrian who was in the charge of RB Leipzig is scheduled to travel to the UK and could watch Saints next game at Wembley when they take on Tottenham Hotspur. The minute details of the contract are being fine-tuned but as per the reports, he could put pen to paper to a two and a half year deal.

Southampton are currently deeply submerged in the relegation zone and Hasenhuttl does have a mountain to climb. He shot to fame at Leipzig where he led the club to a brilliant second place finish I their maiden season in the Bundesliga.

The manager did impress in the last campaign too as Leipzig finished sixth but left the club as he couldn’t agree to new terms with the German club. Hasenhuttl could be in the dugout after the Spurs match but he needs to grind out everything possible to lead the Saints to a respectable position at the end of this season.
