Former Arsenal player Ray Parlour has defended Harry Kane over diving allegations. The Englishman was criticized for going down easily inside the penalty box to win a penalty in the Gunners’ 2-2 draw against Tottenham.

“You can be clever, can’t you? In getting a penalty,” Parlour asked on TalkSport.

“I believe Harry when he says he doesn’t dive,” Alan Brazil responded. “There are players out there who are blatant. Any touch at all and they are down. I think Harry would rather score than go down.”

“I think that is exactly right. I think you should look at his goalscoring record. That’s what you should be assessing with Harry Kane. Hat-trick again at the weekend and back in with the goals. He did go down a little bit easy against Arsenal. Well, it was never a penalty. He went down. He’s gone down too easy. He’s not a cheat.”

Claims of diving weren’t restricted only to the Arsenal game, as Kane was under the spotlight for the same reason in their clash against Newcastle.

However, Kane doesn’t seem to be affected by the criticism as he netted a hattrick in England’s 4-0 against Bulgaria.
