Arsenal legend, Ray Parlour, believes the club should do everything they can do to sign Chelsea goalkeeper, Petr Cech, in the Summer.
The Gunners have three ‘keepers currently in the first-team, but none of them are deemed long-term number-one material. David Ospina, Wojciech Szczesny and Emiliano Martinez are the current three at the Emirates Stadium, with Ospina the current number-one choice.
Szczesny was seen as the main goalkeeper for Arsenal but after a shocking performance against Southampton in the league, followed by a smoking incident in the dressing room, Arsene Wenger quickly dropped the Pole and replaced him with Summer signing, Ospina.
However, Parlour believes neither of them should be the club’s number-one and they should do whatever they can to sign Cech from their London rivals as he is no longer seen as the starter at Stamford Bridge.
Thibaut Courtois has returned from a three-year loan spell at Atletico Madrid and is seen as Jose Mourinho’s number-one ‘keeper, and Parlour believes that is why the club should go for Cech.
“He’d be a terrific signing and provide so much experience,” Parlour told sports news outlet Sports Mole.
“He’s got some stern competition at Chelsea. He’s played in some big, big games and a move across London would be great.
“Whether Chelsea would let him go, I don’t know.
“He’s still a young goalkeeper really and has plenty of years ahead of him. Someone like Petr Cech would be a great signing for Arsenal.”
