The Blues likely to sell Thibaut Courtois this summer

Thibaut Courtois returned to Chelsea from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2014 after he enjoyed 3 successful seasons on loan in Spain. Since then he has been the mainstay between the sticks and has established himself as one of the best Goalkeepers in the world.

The Belgian is considered as one of the most important members of the Blues and has already won 2 Premier League, 1 FA Cup and 1 League club with the club. He made 46 appearances for the club last season but missed out on Champions League qualification.

But the 25 year old has been stalling on signing an extension at Stamford Bridge and could leave on a free transfer next year when his contract expires. He has seemingly joined a number of first-team players whose futures are also shrouded in doubt. He has been linked to host of clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Chelsea are likely to sell Courtois this summer as they decided to stop negotiations over a contract renewal. They want to cash in on him rather than to let him leave on a free transfer next year with Liverpool and Real Madrid lined up as the two potential landing spots, reports Gianluca Di Marzio .

The Reds have been in the market for a new goalkeeper for a long time. Simon Mignolet is expected to leave this summer and Loris Karius have been impressive in recent months but his poor performances in the Champions League final indicated they need a world class goalkeeper.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked to many goalkeepers including the Belgium International. But it is unlikely he will join a Premier League rival if he decides to leave the FA Cup winners.

Real Madrid are also looking for a goalkeeper as they want a long term replacement for Keylor Navas. But he is not the only goalkeeper linked with a move to the La Liga giants.
