The German midfielder is negotiating a new deal at the Emirates

Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are ready to make a move for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, if the 27-year-0ld fails to negotiate a new deal at the Emirates.

The Gunners are eagerly trying to secure a new contract with the Germany midfielder, who has been a key player for the club since his arrival from Real Madrid in 2013.

But should the north London club fail to meet Ozil’s wage demands of around ÂŁ250,000-a-week, Arsenal’s rival European heavyweights Bayern and Real are understood to be ready to come close to meeting the player’s demands.

It is not the only deal Arsene Wenger is hoping to secure over the coming weeks, with Alexis Sanchez’s contract also being discussed. However, for now, Arsenal’s biggest concern will be keeping their star midfielder from the grasp of their European rivals.

Talks are understood to be going ok at the minute, but should the midfielder have question marks about the Gunners’ ability to win the Premier League, Ozil could consider his future.

The Arsenal midfielder’s high wage demands could be a stumbling block, while with the Premier League’s new mega TV rights deal having taken effect; a bumper wage package should not prove to be problematic.

Ozil has already netted twice this season, while he has yet to produce an assist – for which he is most famed for. But with their being no question marks about his importance to Arsenal, their priority over the coming weeks will be to ensure a vital cog in their team remains at the Emirates for the long term.
