Real Madrid Captain On His Way To Make El Clasico Appearance Record

Sergio Ramos is about to set an El Clasico record in appearances when he takes the pitch on Wednesday.

The Real Madrid captain will be playing his 43rd meeting against Barcelona, if he is picked in the starting lineup, overtaking the record set by Manuel SanchĂs, Paco Gento and Xavi.

Ramos was introduced into the Real Madrid senior side 15 years ago and the Spaniard has taken part in every single encounter between the two clubs since then. This is a huge career mark for the defender who is due to turn 34 in March. He continues to man the Madrid and Spain backline.

One of the players who is set to make his first El Clasico appearance might be Fede Valverde, Real latest rising star in midfield. He said, “It’d be a dream to start, I would try to enjoy every single moment and detail of the game. We have to enjoy it while trying to win and make our fans and club proud. El Clasico is a dream match for every player and we have the chance to play it so we have to enjoy it.

“We face this match with confidence, we’re in a good moment. We know that this game is followed worldwide, everyone wants to see Madrid and Barcelona face each other and we hope to get the best of it. We tell the fans to trust and to cheer for us because we need it, we will give our very best so that they can be happy the day after,” Dani Carvajal added.
