La Liga giants want Liverpool left-back

Real Madrid are planning a shock Transfer Deadline Day move for Liverpool full-back Alberto Moreno, according to reports.

It’s been suggested in Italian media that the La Liga giants want to bring in Moreno for back-up to Marcelo after the club lost Fabio Coentrao to AS Monaco on a season-long loan.

After Coentrao left, it’s given Rafael Benitez a problem at the back with not many options to choose from, in particular in the full-back region.

However, Benitez is keen to speak to his former-club and attempt to lure Moreno to the Bernabeu.

The Spaniard is yet to start a game for Brendan Rodgers this season, with the manager opting for youngster Joe Gomez, who joined from Charlton Athletic earlier in the summer.

Rodgers has shown faith in the youngster after he had a stand-out pre-season, and so far this season, he’s put in solid displays for The Reds, leaving Moreno on the bench.

Moreno joined Liverpool only 12-months ago after leaving Sevilla in a ÂŁ12million deal, but he could be in line for a shock return to La Liga with Madrid keen to land him.

Despite being dropped from the first-team so far this season, the 23-year-old made 37 starts for Rodgers last year, so it’s thought the Premier League outfit won’t be willing to sell.
