Real Madrid are set to test the resolve of Italian side Juventus by preparing a move for Paul Pogba, according to one of their former players.
Pogba was named Best Young Player at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil, and is the centre of attention all over Europe.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Paris St-Germain are all reportedly in the hunt for one of the world’s top central midfielders.
French legend Zinedine Zidane, who also starred for Juventus as well as Real in a glittering career, has said that the Champions League holders will not shy away from spending big.
Zizou, who is currently coach of Real’s B team, Real Madrid Castilla said: “He’s a very good player, but there’s a lot of very good players out there.
“I can’t tell you if he’s right for Real Madrid because it’s not up to me.”
Pogba was on the books at Old Trafford , but joined Juventus in 2012 after only making a handful of first-team appearances.
With every impressive display the Frenchman makes, it will be more and more likely that even the £70m talked up by Real may not be enough.
