Super agent Mendes offers Red Devils Real midfielder

Manchester United are set to make a decision about signing Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez in the coming weeks.

The 24-year-old, who joined Real following an outstanding display at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer, is reportedly being allowed to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and United now have an offer to consider.

Football agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered the former AS Monaco man to the Red Devils, but it would need United to, once again, break the British transfer record to bring him to Old Trafford.

The club broke the British record by spending £59.7 million on Angel Di Maria in 2014, but the Argentine’s time in England didn’t go as planned, and was subsequently sold to Paris Saint-Germain.

And with Louis Van Gaal’s future with the Red Devils uncertain, United may be forced to delay their decision until they decide who will definitely be managing the club next campaign.

Rodriguez cost Real £63 million two years ago, and will demand that fee is recuperated in any sale of the player this summer.

The Colombian was recognised as one of the hottest properties on the planet, after shining at the 2014 World Cup, but he will now be looking to reach similar heights again – although that is now likely to be away from the Bernabeu.

The 24-year-old has netted just eight goals in 32 appearances for Real this season.
