Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing a summer bid for England and Liverpool right back Glen Johnson. Liverpool have been delaying offering Johnson a new contract, and Madrid are looking to capitalise on their hesitancy by making a move in the summer.
Liverpool owners FSG are reluctant to renew big money contracts once the player hits their 30th birthday. They have suspended talks until the summer, when the 29 year old enters the final 12 months of his contract. It is unlikely that, due to his age, Johnson will be offered significantly more than the ÂŁ110,000 he is already on.
Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti is in the market for a new right back, with long term doubts over ex-Liverpool player Alvaro Arbeloa, and is preparing a ÂŁ5million bid in the summer with the offer of a new challenge in La Liga.
