Spanish side Real Madrid will ramp up their interest in Chelsea midfielder Ramires after the deal was given a green light by club president Florentino Perez.

Initial reports have linked the European champions with a ÂŁ25million bid for the Brazilian midfielder, and there has even been talks of a potential player-swap deal taking place with Luka Modric going the other way.

However, Perez does not want to lose the Croatian midfielder and is keen on talking to Chelsea officials to discuss a potential transfer.

Carlo Ancelotti, now manager at Madrid, was the man who purchased Ramires for The Blues back in 2010, and he is keen to sign him again and bring him to the Bernabeu.

Despite both Ancelotti and Perez keen on signing the 27-year-old, Blues boss Jose Mourinho is not willing to part with the player that easily, and it’s believed that a ÂŁ25m offer would not be enough for him to accept, despite the club only paying ÂŁ17m for him four years ago.

Ramires has become a crucial part of Chelsea’s midfield in his four-year career in London, but could see his starting-spot taken off him by new-signing Cesc Fabregas, who announced the news yesterday.
