Real Madrid suffered an embarrassing home defeat in their first home game of the UEFA Champions League campaign.

They were up against Shakhtar Donestsk who had lost 10 of their first team players – after they were ruled out due to a CoVID-19 outbreak in their ranks.

It meant that Shakhtar had to play the game with a reserve team and they still managed to beat the biggest players of the Champions League 3-2.

Zidane has been pushed into a wall due to the result but he claims he can turn things around.

“I see myself capable of fixing this, that’s what I’m going to try,” Zidane said in his post-match interview. “The players are going to try, too. We are going to look for the solution and we’re going to find it. Now we have to prepare for Saturday’s game [away to Barcelona].”

“It’s a bad feeling [that we have after this result], of course,” Zidane said after Madrid lost their opening Champions League game at home for the first time ever.

“It ended up being a mix of everything. We made a mistake leading up to the first goal and afterwards the truth is that we were missing a bit of confidence, a bit of action, a bit of everything in the first half.
