Pepe ready to move amid contract standoff in Spain
Real Madrid star Pepe is ready to consider a move to Chelsea, amid a nasty contract standoff between himself and the European champions in Spain at the moment.
The Portugal international’s contract expires next summer, and Madrid have offered him a one-year contract extension. However, the player’s representatives have recommended he holds out for two years.
And now the Daily Mirror are reporting that he is considering a move to Stamford Bridge.
The report adds the defender will be able to talk to foreign clubs and sign a pre-contract with them from January 1.
Antonio Conte brought both David Luiz and Marcos Alonso to Stamford Bridge during the summer. But neither have impressed in a Chelsea shirt so far.
But with doubts remaining over Gary Cahill and Branislav Ivanovic, the Blues boss looks set to be in the market for a defender once again in January.
