Reports claim that Real Madrid will sack manger Julen Lopetegui if they lose to Barcelona. The first El Clasico of the season is on October 28 at Camp Nou.
Real Madrid’s performances have been really underwhelming lately. They have gone four matches without a win. These include a 1-0 defeat to CSKA Moscow and a defeat to Deportivo Alaves. Lopetegui has come under tremendous scrutiny after Real’s disappointing performances.
Lopetegui agreed to become Real’s manager after managing Spain in the 2018 World Cup. However, Spain sacked him just before the World Cup. Lopetegui’s term started well with an unbeaten streak of 6 matches. However, Los Blancos’ performances have severely deteriorated.
And now, Real Madrid have decided that Lopetegui’s fate will be decided based on how Real Madrid fare against Barcelona. Barcelona haven’t been performing too well either. They have not registered a win in their last three La Liga games.
Antonio Conte will reportedly replace Lopetegui if he gets the sack. Conte was Chelsea’s manager last season before getting sacked this summer. However, he guided Chelsea to victory at the FA Cup before his dismissal.
Real Madrid are currently 4th in the La Liga table below Sevilla, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Their next match is against Levante on October 20.
