According to reports from Marca, Real Madrid will sign 20-year old River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios in January. Palacios will be Real Madrid’s first signing of the winter. There are rumors that Real Madrid have already signed him for €20 million and he will stay at the club till 2024.
Palacios joined River Plate’s youth setup in 2015 and played there till 2017 although he already started playing for the senior team in 2015. He made his senior debut for River Plate against Newell’s Old Boys in November, 2015. So far, Palacios has made 38 appearances for River Plate, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists.
This season, Palacios has made 8 appearances for River Plate across, scoring a goal and providing 2 assists. Palacios has also made two appearances for the national team, having previously played for Argentina’s youth teams. He represented Argentina in the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, appearing in all of Argentina’s matches. Unfortunately, Argentina could not make it past the group stage.
Palacios made his international debut against Guatemala on September and provided an assist as Argentina won 3-0. He is not in Argentina’s squad for their two friendlies against Mexico tomorrow and Tuesday at Cordoba and Mendoza respectively.
