Real Madrid are reportedly considering a move for Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo as a replacement for the departing Alvaro Morata who is likely to be leaving to Juventus this summer. The Spanish giants are near to selling youth product Morata and manager Carlo Ancelotti has been out looking for a new striker to supersede the 21-year-old at the Santiago Bernabeu next term.

According to reports in Spain, the Catalan club believe Negredo is the perfect man to replace Morata due to his stirring history in La Liga in previous years. However, the story comes just days after he confirmed that he wanted to remain at City for the foreseeable future after being linked with Real Madrid’s fierce rivals Atletico Madrid.

He said: ‘I don’t want to leave City, I’m very happy and settled here.

‘I had a difficult end to the season and that’s why there’s been a lot of talking. But I’ve been very happy from the first day I arrived.’

Negredo joined Manchester City from Sevilla last summer for a fee of around  £16 million. The Spaniard scored 23 goals in his debut season for City but then suffered a goal drought during the last few months of the campaign. His last goal being on 21 January.

Atletico reportedly offered £12 million for the striker following the departure of Diego Costa to Chelsea, but it is understood that City want more for the Spanish International.
