Ex Reds boss set to steal star
Real Madrid are preparing to make a Summer swoop for Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, and are hoping that Rafael Benitez could play a huge part in the deal.
Rafa Benitez is favourite to land the Madrid post after Carlo Ancelotti was sacked earlier this week, and he is expected to be announced as boss next week.
It is reported that he has already highlighted the young England player as his number one transfer target after the 20-year-old turned down a £90,000 a-week contract at Anfield.
Benitez was the man that persuaded a young Sterling to join Liverpool when he was just 15 and it seems he is hoping to achieve the same if he lands the managerial post at the Bernabeu.
Sterling is very much a wanted man by a number of top European clubs and this summer’s transfer window could start up a bidding war.
