The forward has been heavily linked with the Spanish club

Since joining Liverpool from Roma for an initial fee of around £35 million last summer, Mohamed Salah has massively exceeded all expectations. He has been outstanding for the Reds, scoring 43 goals in all competitions this season and inspired his team to reach the Champions League final where they will face Real Madrid.

The Egypt International is the current leading Premier League goalscorer and was recognized for his incredible campaign by claiming a Player of the Season double at Liverpool’s end-of-campaign awards on Thursday.

The 25 year old’s outstanding form this season has seen him linked to Real Madrid and according to reports Florentino Perez has prioritized signing him this summer. Though the Premier League giants have made clear they want to keep hold of their player this summer.

But former Real Madrid star Predrag Mijatovic  has warned the club against pursuing Salah and wants them to focus on developing their own young stars.

“[Salah] has all the qualities that football requires today. But you also have to say that he is a player who has had a very strange trajectory,” Mijatovic told AS.

“I do not know if Madrid should go crazy for him at this moment because they have important young players, like [Marco] Asensio or Isco, with similar characteristics. And we do not know what will happen to Bale.

“I do not know what Salah’s situation is like, but now he is not a player for whom I would go crazy. You do not know how he would adapt. Madrid is different, a club where it is difficult to succeed.”
