Talksport’s Terry Gibson believes that there is likely some truth behind the reports that Real Madrid are ready to offer £70million for Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan has just picked up the PFA Player Of The Year award after a fantastic season at Anfield, during which he has scored 30 league goals. Gibson, a former Spurs and Manchester United player, believes there is a strong possibility that Suarez could be on his way to Spain.

When asked whether Real Madrid could manage to spend that sort of money, he said: “Probably. Real Madrid look to spend that sort of money every year. That’s even quite cheap for them.

“They go for a Galactico every year. They keep bringing in attacking players, I’m not sure they need anymore.

“It’s the Real Madrid way though. They don’t look to bring in too many players who are defenders.

“Suarez is obviously good enough to play for them, it’s just whether Carlo Ancelotti has any decision about who he wants to bring in.

“I’m not sure they need another striker but that definitely wouldn’t stop Florentino Perez buying one, despite what Ancelotti thinks.”
