More headaches for Zidane, with the Madrid coach losing the Spain midfielder.

Real Madrid have now suffered eight injuries in just over a month and a half.

Real Madrid have offered a fitness update on the status of midfielder Isco, following the Spaniard’s enforced departure against Valladolid.

The 27-year-old midfield, who has been linked throughout the summer with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu, left the pitch on Saturday in the 68th minute, and it has now emerged that the he has suffered a hamstring injury.

“After the tests carried out today on our player Isco Alarcon by the Real Madrid Medical Services he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in the right femoral biceps. His recovery will continue to be assessed”, a club statement said.

Isco has become the eighth player to succumb to injury in just over a month and a half since the season started. His injury comes just two days after James Rodriguez also suffered a muscle problem, with Madrid already without Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Brahim Diaz due to various knocks.

On top of that, all of Mendy, Isco, Brahim, James and Rodrygo’s ailments have been muscle-related, with majority of them coming in the hamstring area.

According to sports daily AS, recovery time for this kind of injury is between two to three weeks. That would rule him out of the Liga games against Villarreal and possibly Levante on September 14. As a result, Zinedine Zidane faces selection issues with his squad looking so thin ahead of Sunday’s visit against The Yellow Submarine.
