Ex-Reds midfielder claims youngster has more talent that Sterling

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Jordan Ibe has more natural talent that Raheem Sterling- and that Liverpool made a mistake selling him.

Ibe completed a move from Anfield to Bournemouth earlier this week, for a fee believed to be around ÂŁ15million. There is, however, a buyback clause in the player’s contract.

However, Jamie Redknapp thinks that Bournemouth have gained the bigger benefits from this deal, as they’ve signed a real promising young player.

“I think it’s a great piece of business for Bournemouth,” he told the Bournemouth Echo.

“Although it’s a lot of money, when you look at the current climate he is the sort of player who in a couple of years could be worth double that because he’s got fantastic pace and can dribble and shoot.

“I’d like to see him add more goals to his game but I think he’ll be a fantastic signing and especially given he will be working with Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall, who get the best out of young players.”

“Bournemouth is a great place to learn and develop and he fits what the club wants. Before you know it, he could be in the England squad.”

And the 43-year-old did not hold back when comparing Ibe to his former Reds team-mate Raheem Sterling, whose footsteps he followed in after the England ace left Anfield for Manchester City last summer.

“I think he has more natural ability than Raheem Sterling. Anything Raheem Sterling struggles with, Jordon Ibe can do,” Redknapp said.

“I would hate to play against him with his pace and power.”

Redknapp spent 11 years with Liverpool, netting 30 goals in 237 league appearances.

He won 17 caps for England between 1995 and 1999.
