Reus headed for Dortmund exit?

Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus could be set for a big money summer switch to rivals Bayern Munich, which would end any hope Liverpool and Arsenal had of signing the talented midfielder.

Reus, who has only recently recovered from last season’s ankle injury which ended his hopes of playing his part in Germany’s victorious World Cup campaign, has three years remaining on his current deal at the Westfalendstadion. Rumours circulated throughout the summer that a move to Manchester United was imminent, however nothing materialised and now it seems he could become the next in line to leave Dortmund for rivals Bayern.

Reus has been a stalwart in the Dortmund side since his arrival from Mönchengladbach in 2012, and his impressive performances have made him a fans favourite at the club he spent seven years with as a youth prospect. The 25 year-old has netted 43 times in 92 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side and thus major European cubs have been touted as future employers.

If the German were to depart for the Allianz Arena, he would be following in the paths of former teammates Mario Götze and Robert Lewnadowski, who both left Die Borussen for the current Bundesliga champions in the last two summer transfer windows.

It is well documented that the wide man has a £30 million release clause, and many fans of Die Roten will be calling for Guardiola and co to meet his release clause, to bring the left midfielder to the Allianz Arena.

Munich’s president,  Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, had this to say regarding Reus’ future: “I must be open with you and tell you that we will be quietly discussing a move (for Reus) before we make up our decision,” Bayern president Rummenigge told BILD.

“However, at the end of the day the player must also want to come to us. Everyone knows about the buy-out clause. At the moment I do not want to say anymore.”
