Midfielder makes guilty admission in interview

Stoke midfielder Joe Allen has admitted that scoring against Manchester United was ‘difficult’ for him, as he supported the Red Devils thoughout his younger life.

Allen earned fantastic praise from all Liverpool fans last Sunday after scoring and earning Stoke a draw at Old Trafford, a well taken goal indeed.

He left Anfield for Stoke in the summer after being deemed surplus to midfield requirements by Jurgen Klopp.

However, the 26-year-old Welshman may have just thrown his cult hero status on Merseyside into jeopardy.

A seven-year-old competition winner (and United fan) met the midfielder at the Wales training ground, and asked Allen why he’d netted against his beloved club.

And instead of proclaiming how much satisfaction it gave him, being an ex-Liverpool player, Allen responded rather differently,

‘Don’t tell anyone,’ he said. ‘But I was a Man U fan as well, so it was a bit tough for me to score that goal.’

*Que angry Twitter response*
