Wolfsburg defender Ricardo Rodriguez has put an end to Premier League interest after penning a new contract with the German Bundesliga club.

The Swiss international, aged 22, has signed a deal with the high-flying Wolves, who sit second in the Bundesliga, with the deal keeping him at Wolfsburg until the summer of 2019.

Prior to Rodriguez extending his deal, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United had all previously expressed an interest in the highly-rated player.

“Ricardo Rodriguez has developed really well and his contract extension is an important step since he is a very important member of our team,” said the club’s director of sport Klaus Allofs.

Having penned his new deal at the Volkswagen Arena, a delighted Rodriguez said:  “I’ve been here for three years and I’ve settled in well and made many friends here.

“The team is great and it didn’t take me long to agree (to stay).”
