AFC Bournemouth interested in striker
Liverpool ace to return to the south coast of England. But NOT back to Southampton!
With Liverpool looking certain to offload former England star Rickie Lambert in the summer, reports are rife that the 33-year-old striker may be on his way to newly promoted Bournemouth.
Surplus to requirements
Lambert only moved to Anfield last summer in what many saw as a fairytale homecoming. Unfortunately the move has not had a ‘happily ever after’ ending. The passionate scouser failed to hold down a first team place, and with only 3 goals for his beloved Liverpool, he now looks like being surplus to requirements following his £4million move from Southampton.
Rodgers to strengthen
Liverpool boss, Brendan Rodgers, looks certain to strengthen his squad throughout in the summer, with much focus expected on his attacking options. Mario Balotelli and Fabio Borini are expected to be sold, along with Lambert, as the Reds look for more formidable options up front to help Daniel Sturridge and new boy Divock Origi.
Bournemouth are likely to be an unknown quantity come the start of the 2015/16 season, and cheap and reliable, yet experienced players such as Lambert may be just the ticket for manager Eddie Howe in their bid to compete with the big boys.
