Riyad Mahrez has insisted he is very delighted to be at Manchester City and doesn’t have any intention to leave the club.
The Algerian international was a £60m arrival in the last summer and didn’t have an easy route to the first team setup. Pep Guardiola already had an ensemble herd of attackers at his disposal and the addition of Mahrez infused more competition in the squad.
The 28 year old has gone on to start just 14 times in the Premier League and perhaps netted the most important goal in the campaign as he scored his seventh goal of the campaign in the last match against Brighton & Hove Albion and ensured a smooth sailing to the Premier League title.
Mahrez said, “It is not easy to come to a team who are settled, who have players who play.
“That squad did everything last season.
“I knew it would not be easy in my first year but I am very confident in myself and have no doubts about my quality. I knew that when I had my chance I would take it. I scored at Brighton and helped the team.
“I am very happy here. I am not going somewhere else because I don’t play. It’s part of the game. I need to be strong, stay strong. It’s part of my personality, I never hide away from things.”
