Rob Holding Eyeing England Call Up

Arsenal defender Rob Holding is hoping to be named in the England squad as he feels his form for Arsenal could help him in getting his first call up to the Three Lions.

Holding has been a permanent fixture in the Gunners backline and has been pretty impressive this term. Very little was expected when Unai Emery decided to bring in the player against Everton after Sokratis got injured.

But since then the Bolton academy product has played a big part in getting the job done for his gaffer. Holding looked calm and composed on the ball and with each game passing, he is looking more in command.

Emery’s idea of building the attack from the back has been largely impressive this term and Holding’s contribution cannot be ignored at all. He said, “I think this is my best run in an Arsenal shirt.

“Consistency-wise, it’s been 12 games consistently playing to a good level, not playing because someone is injured but on merit. That gives you more confidence.

“Gareth Southgate has brought a refreshed feeling to England with a lot of young lads. If you’re playing well in the Premier League week in, week out, as we saw with Callum Wilson and Lewis Dunk, you’re going to get chances.

“You want to be a part of what they are creating at the moment. Obviously what they did at the World Cup and there is the Euros in over a year’s time. It’s a great time to be involved with England so why wouldn’t you want to be.”
